Job Description Key Responsibilities Design Strategy & Leadership Lead retail design strategy for TD's Canadian Retail branch network Continually evolve the design standards, guidelines, and best practices that align with TD's brand and vision. Develop innovative retail concepts that promote flexibility amidst a changing market. Advise senior leaders on retail trends, design opportunities, and portfolio planning strategies. Ability and interest to utilize new and emerging AI tools to enhance design strategies, standards, and processes to ensure TDs Retail environments lead and exceed industry norms and best practices. Project Leadership Oversee the design and execution of complex retail projects from concept through occupancy. Direct external consultants, architects, interior designers, engineers, and project teams. Review space plans, signage proposals, design packages, specifications, presentations, and construction documentation. Balance project objectives related to schedule, budget, design quality, and stakeholder expectations. Stakeholder Management Partner with executives, Network Strategy, Marketing, Security, Operations, Facilities, Technology, Real Estate, and other internal groups to align solutions with business needs. Present recommendations and design strategies to senior leadership and governance committees. Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, consultants, vendors, and industry organizations. Retail Experience & Innovation Lead the creation of client centered spaces that facilitate a smooth customer experience, while maintaining a suitable standard for employees Explore emerging retail trends, design approaches particularly around flexibility and modularity to support future ways of working. Champion inclusive, and human-centered design principles across the portfolio. Sustainability & Wellness Integrate sustainability best practices into retail projects and standards where applicable Promote LEED, accessibility, and environmental performance goals. Advocate for responsible material selection, energy efficiency, and long-term operational value. Team Leadership Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to internal team members and embedded consultants. Support resource planning, organizational development, and talent management initiatives. Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture. Qualifications Education Degree or Diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, Environmental Design, or a related field. Professional designation (RID, ARIDO, NCIDQ, OAA, AIA, or equivalent) considered an asset. Experience 10+ years of progressive retail design experience. Experience leading large-scale corporate interior projects and multidisciplinary teams. Experience managing executive stakeholders and complex organizational environments. Financial services experience is an asset. Skills Strong workplace strategy and interior design expertise. Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Strong project management and organizational abilities. Proficiency with workplace planning and design technologies. Ability to translate business objectives into practical workplace solutions. Strong knowledge of accessibility, building codes, workplace standards, and industry best practices. Proficient in: Microsoft CoPilot, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCad, Bluebeam and Tririga Understanding and interest in developing skills related to 3D rendering, Revit, design/real estate industry AI tools Success Measures Delivery of high-quality workplace projects aligned with business objectives. Strong stakeholder satisfaction and executive engagement. Advancement of retail innovation, sustainability, and employee experience goals. Effective team leadership and consultant management.
