Résumé du poste

Staff Software Engineer Contract, Part-time About the Company A founder-owned technology company serving the built environment and decarbonization space is rebuilding its core platform following a recent restructuring. The business is bootstrapped and self-funded, and it's shifting from a pure software model toward a consulting-led approach, using proprietary tooling to support hands-on advisory work for clients. Government clients are part of the pipeline, and renewed work with that segment depends on compliance readiness being handled separately from this role. The Role This is a rebuild mandate, not a maintenance job. The company needs someone who will personally write the platform's next chapter: making the architecture and data-layer calls, shipping code day to day, and acting as the technical backstop for a non-technical founder. It suits someone who wants real ownership without layers of process, and who treats AI-assisted development as a genuine working method rather than an occasional tool. What You Will Do Rebuild core platform components from the ground up on a new technical foundation, applying past lessons without inheriting old code Decide and document the architecture and data-layer approach, including whether the current database choice still holds up long term Write and ship production code yourself, day in and day out Act as the technical sounding board on major decisions, working directly with a non-technical founder Support the platform after launch, handling issues as they surface once things stabilize What You Bring Production experience with React, Node, TypeScript, and a document-oriented database such as MongoDB A track record of working independently at a senior or staff level, without close oversight Real, demonstrated use of AI coding agents: directing outcomes and reviewing generated code rather than leaning on autocomplete Sharp system design instincts, with the judgment to make and defend architecture calls Experience building or rebuilding a product from zero Why This Role This is a chance to set the technical foundation of a platform and be the person a founder leans on for the decisions that matter, not a step removed from them. The company isn't chasing hypergrowth or an investor timeline, so pace is set by doing the work right, not by a funding clock. It starts part-time, with room to grow as the engagement takes shape.
