Cavinona is Terroni’s Ontario-based wine agency that specializes in Italian wine. We have handpicked over 90 producers from across the Italian peninsula to offer the best selection of Italy’s vast range of indigenous varieties to our guests exclusively at all Gruppo Terroni restaurants and bottle shops and through our online store at cavinona.com. What we are looking for We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Seasonal Part-Time Sommelier to join our FOH team at our Terroni Adelaide location in Downtown Toronto. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate and hospitality minded Sommelier to join an amazing team of Industry professionals. A certified Wine Professional with the passion and skills to create outstanding wine experiences for our guests is the ideal candidate. First hand knowledge of and experience with Italian wine as well as experience in a full service casual fine dining restaurant are additional assets you bring to the role. Description of Role The Sommelier brings a love of working on the floor leading and motivating frontline staff to curate exceptional wine experiences for our guests. Reporting to the Wine Director, the Sommelier is a passionate and hardworking Hospitality professional who plays a key role in the success of the Cavinona Exclusive Italian Wine Program at Terroni Adelaide. The Sommelier collaborates with the Wine Director in planning, organizing, executing the successful daily sales and operations of the Wine Program. Leading ongoing Staff Wine Education as well as Cellar Management (stocking, inventory, etc.) are other key responsibilities of this role. The Sommelier possesses exceptional communication and organizational skills and is an outgoing people person whose knowledge and passion for wine is infectious. This is a part time position with variable shifts that include evenings, weekends and holidays. Qualifications: * Sommelier / Wine Certification (WSET, CAPS, etc.) * Knowledge and passion for wine, including strong familiarity with different wine varieties, regions and producers. * Sales experience. * Previous experience in the wine industry is considered an asset. * Passion for hospitality and the restaurant industry * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Proficient in English (spoken and written) * Proficiency in Italian (spoken and written) is considered an asset. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. * Relevant Casual Fine Dining Restaurant experience an asset. * Enthusiastic, personable, and committed to curating exceptional guest experiences. * Ability to lift up to 20kg. * Ability to spend extended periods of time standing and climbing stairs.
