Permanent Full TimeRole Description The Canada Asset Liability Management (ALM) team brings together a complete view of Canada Life’s assets and insurance liabilities to guide how the balance sheet is invested and managed. It identifies and manages interest rate, liquidity, currency, inflation, credit and asset-mix risks, while balancing earnings, capital and risk objectives. It produces accurate and insightful reporting and analysis to support decision-making. Effective ALM helps Canada Life meet its commitments to policyholders, remain resilient across market cycles and create sustainable long-term value. ALM team members have the opportunity to work with a wide range of diverse stakeholders, hone their technical asset liability and financial analysis skills, while developing collaborative partnerships across business segments and functions. The AVP, ALM Production is responsible for overseeing the production, validation, and delivery of ALM analytics and reporting, while measuring, monitoring and managing ALM risks. The role ensures the timely and accurate calculation and reporting of financial results, balance sheet risk metrics, interest rate risk exposure, and liquidity measures. The position partners closely with senior leaders within Investment, Finance, Risk, and Actuarial teams to support strategic decision-making. You will lead a team of ~15 staff to deliver these responsibilities. The AVP, Production reports to the VP, Asset Liability Management and is part of the broader Great West finance organization. What you will do Operational Activities Partner with Investments front office to source and allocate assets by segment in compliance with approved policies, guidelines, and investment strategies Monitor key risk metrics and develop action plans to manage within risk limits for all business segments Support product pricing by developing and providing interest rates and other asset statistics ALM YCS & Systems Activities Maintain, enhance and execute IFRS 17 Yield Curve Service (YCS) processes, critical to the determination of insurance contract liabilities across Canada Life Manage quarterly Net Investment Result reporting, including the attribution of Base and Non-Base earnings, and communicating insights to senior stakeholders Partner with Technology to ensure ALM systems are supporting the needs of the ALM team and other business stakeholders Leadership Identify ways to improve and rethink existing processes and also find solutions to unique business situations that arise regularly Identify team and individual performance metrics while focusing on employee empowerment, development, and high performance Maintain ALM guidelines, manage governance processes, and take a leading role on ALM committees What you will bring Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries CFA or other investment designations are an asset 10+ years of experience in insurance, investments, or financial industry role Ability to communicate complex technical matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Continuous improvement and innovation mindset Exceptional stakeholder leadership and influencing skills, with a track record of building alignment and accountability in a matrixed, global organization Strong business acumen, strategic judgement and decision-making, with the ability to balance technical rigour, reporting timelines, risk and practical business considerations Demonstrated people leadership, including setting direction, developing technical talent, fostering collaboration and creating a culture of continuous improvement and high standards The base salary for this position is between $176,300 - $226,300 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
