Company Description The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN) is the umbrella professional body for banking professionals in Nigeria, established in 1973 and chartered in 1990. It sets standards of knowledge and skills for individuals entering the banking profession and conducts professional examinations that lead to recognized certifications. CIBN promotes and enforces ethical conduct and professionalism among practitioners across the Nigerian banking sector. Its membership includes key corporate institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, deposit money banks, development banks, mortgage banks, microfinance banks, and discount houses. Guided by core values of professionalism, integrity, excellence, transparency, ethics, and commitment, CIBN aspires to be the global reference point for professionalism and ethics in banking and finance through thought leadership and capacity building. Role Description The Vice President of AI Audit will lead the development and implementation of audit frameworks for artificial intelligence systems used across banking and financial operations. This remote role is responsible for overseeing the evaluation of AI models and algorithms for fairness, transparency, security, compliance, and alignment with regulatory and ethical standards. In day-to-day activities, the Vice President will design risk assessment methodologies, review AI-related governance policies, and coordinate audits of AI-driven products, services, and internal processes. The role will collaborate with technology teams, risk and compliance functions, and external stakeholders to ensure AI technologies support safe, responsible, and sustainable innovation in the financial sector. The Vice President will also contribute to thought leadership, guidance documents, and capacity-building initiatives on AI governance and audit best practices. Qualifications Strong expertise in AI, machine learning, and data science, including understanding of model development, deployment, and monitoring. Experience in audit, risk management, or compliance within financial services, with familiarity with regulatory frameworks and industry standards. Knowledge of AI ethics, responsible AI principles, and governance frameworks, including fairness, accountability, transparency, and privacy. Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical and operational risks in AI-powered systems. Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and projects, preferably in a remote or distributed environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders and technical teams. Relevant academic background in computer science, data science, information systems, engineering, finance, or related disciplines; an advanced degree or professional certifications in audit, risk, or AI is an advantage.
