We're looking for a remote Member of Technical Staff, Machine Learning in the artificial intelligence and software technology industry. Our client is building a next-generation AI assistant designed to help everyday users complete tasks, manage workflows, and interact with technology more efficiently through intelligent automation. Their mission is to create AI-native experiences that bring together reasoning, context, and real-world task execution. Working within a high-performance, high-talent-density environment, you'll collaborate with world-class engineers and product leaders to build innovative AI systems that directly impact users every day. The Member of Technical Staff, Machine Learning will be responsible for designing, building, and improving machine learning systems that power advanced AI workflows, model evaluation, training, and inference. This role offers the opportunity to work on production AI systems from day one, contributing to the development of reliable, scalable, and user-focused machine learning solutions. Member of Technical Staff, Machine Learning responsibilities: Build and improve machine learning components across data pipelines, training systems, evaluation frameworks, and inference services Fine-tune and optimize machine learning models for production applications Develop testing and evaluation methodologies to understand and improve model performance Design and maintain pipelines for both real-world and synthetic data generation Investigate and resolve model performance issues, production incidents, and system bottlenecks Collaborate with product, engineering, and research teams to deliver reliable AI-powered features Support production systems while balancing latency, reliability, scalability, cost, and safety requirements Monitor model and system performance and drive continuous improvements based on user feedback and operational metrics Contribute high-quality, maintainable code and engineering best practices Participate in technical discussions, architecture decisions, and iterative development cycles The successful candidate has: 3+ years of experience in machine learning engineering, applied AI, or a related software engineering discipline Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field Strong foundation in machine learning concepts, neural networks, and modern model architectures Experience training, fine-tuning, deploying, or supporting machine learning models in production environments Proficiency with Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX Experience building scalable software systems and writing production-quality code Familiarity with data processing, model evaluation, experimentation, and debugging techniques Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with evolving priorities Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills A bias toward learning, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement Compensation and benefits: The discussed salary range is $140,000 - $180,000, depending on experience Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered Remote work arrangement Opportunity to work with cutting-edge AI technologies and large-scale machine learning systems Professional development and career growth opportunities Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
