The Simulation Technician is a key partner in supporting high-quality educational activities delivered by the Simulation Program and Learning Institute. With a primarily technical and operational focus, the Simulation Technician prepares, operates, troubleshoots and helps maintain computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers, audiovisual systems and related equipment. The Simulation Technician works within established procedures to set up, take down and support simulation sessions while supporting Simulation Specialists, Operations Manager and Simulation Educators with equipment readiness, data collection, and the day-to-day operations of the Simulation Centre. Here's What You'll Get To Do Operations Responsible for set-up, transition and breakdown for simulation activities, including patient simulators, task trainers, clinical equipment, supplies and audiovisual systems. Provides learners with orientation to simulation rooms and the effective and safe use of manikins, task trainers, audiovisual systems and related equipment. Operates simulators, audiovisual systems and related equipment during simulation activities, following established scenarios, procedures and direction from the Simulation Specialist or Simulation Educator. Supports Simulation Specialists and Simulation Educators with the planning, preparation, programming, testing and delivery of simulation activities. Provides responsive, professional service to education and clinical partners. Maintains the Simulation Centre as a clean, safe, organized and operational facility and optimal learning environment. Troubleshoots routine issues involving audiovisual systems, simulators, task trainers and related equipment; escalates complex or unresolved issues appropriately. Collects and accurately logs session, space, equipment and evaluation data. Assists with the installation, testing and operational readiness of new equipment under the direction of the Simulation Specialist, Operations Manager or vendor support. Provides on-site operational and technical support for scheduled simulation activities and other Program needs, as assigned. Maintenance Performs routine preventive maintenance, functional checks and inventory updates in accordance with established procedures. Identifies and communicates equipment issues, repair needs and potential replacement requirements to the Simulation Specialist or Operations Manager. Ensures Simulation Centre rooms, medical carts and storage areas are stocked and organized; monitors consumables and replenishes or reports supply needs. Essential Requirements Here's What You'll Need Grade 12 diploma. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Ability to work independently within established procedures and collaboratively as part of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficiency with computerized equipment and comfort learning and using audiovisual systems. Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to prioritize multiple operational requests. Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 40 lb. (18 kg). Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and experience advancing EDI objectives. Ability to work on site and provide operational support according to the Simulation Program schedule. Assets Certificate in a technical or AV field is considered an asset Experience supporting simulation-based education or clinical skills activities. Knowledge of audiovisual systems. Technical proficiency with computer hardware, peripherals and basic networking. Strong customer-service orientation.
