Join a growing boutique CPA firm with a well-established niche serving owner-managed businesses in a specialized professional services industry. With a strong reputation, an experienced leadership team, and a steady pipeline of new clients, the firm offers an exciting opportunity to join a thriving practice with significant potential for continued growth. Reporting directly to the firm's founders, you'll become a trusted advisor to clients while serving as the second-in-command within the practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced public accounting professional seeking a collaborative, primarily remote work environment, meaningful leadership responsibilities, and a clear path to partnership and ownership over the next few years. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of owner-managed business clients, acting as their primary advisor for accounting, tax, and business matters. Review and oversee the preparation of compilation engagements, financial statements, corporate and personal tax returns, and other compliance filings. Provide proactive tax planning and business advisory services tailored to the needs of entrepreneurial clients. Build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering exceptional service and identifying opportunities to add value. Lead, coach, and mentor a small team, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development. Review work completed by staff to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards. Manage engagement planning, workflow, and deadlines across multiple client files, particularly during busy tax seasons. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and client service. Collaborate with the founders on firm operations, strategic planning, and practice growth initiatives. Support business development efforts and contribute to the firm's long-term succession and leadership plans. Attend occasional client meetings within the Greater Toronto Area as required. Qualifications CPA designation in good standing. Minimum 10 years of progressive public accounting experience, preferably with a small or mid-sized CPA firm. Strong experience serving owner-managed businesses, including corporate and personal tax, compilations, and financial reporting. Proven ability to build trusted client relationships and provide practical business and tax advice. Demonstrated leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing a team of accounting professionals. Excellent technical knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax requirements for private companies. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship management skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), tax preparation software, Adobe Acrobat, and cloud-based accounting applications. Entrepreneurial mindset with an interest in contributing to the firm's long-term growth and pursuing future partnership or ownership opportunities. Willingness to work additional hours during peak tax season and attend occasional client meetings within the Greater Toronto Area.
