Position Overview Our client, a well-regarded Litigation firm located right by Union Station is currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accident Benefits Clerk to join their dynamic Insurance Defence team. The successful candidate will assist lawyers and law clerks in managing files under the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) and will play a key role in ensuring the efficient handling of accident benefits claims from intake through to resolution. Key Responsibilities Open, organize, and maintain accident benefits (AB) files in accordance with firm procedures. Prepare correspondence, pleadings, and forms (including LAT applications, productions, and mediation materials). Review and summarize medical, employment, and insurer documents. Communicate with clients, adjusters, medical assessors, and opposing counsel in a professional manner. Schedule independent medical examinations (IMEs), mediations, case conferences, and hearings. Track deadlines and limitation dates to ensure compliance with statutory timelines. Draft routine correspondence and prepare legal documents under lawyer or law clerk direction. Assist in billing and file management, including file openings/closings and document organization in the firm’s case management system. Support the Accident Benefits team with administrative and litigation-related tasks as required. Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in an insurance defence or plaintiff personal injury environment, with excellent working experience with Accident Benefits files. Post-secondary diploma - Law Clerk, or related field. Strong knowledge of the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) and LAT procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with MS Office Suite and legal document management systems (e.g., Primafact, iManage or equivalent). Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team. Professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to client service excellence.
