Basic Requirements Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Two (2) years critical care nursing experience; Demonstrates a commitment to continuing education and a willingness to actively participate in departmental educational activities; Demonstrates a knowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply this process to the practice of nursing; Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of the care of the general patient in the unit and the ability to apply this knowledge in a clinical setting; Demonstrates the ability to asses the patient's learning needs and ability to plan appropriate teaching; Demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and within the multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, the public and colleagues; Demonstrates well developed communication and interpersonal skills; Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced). The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Preferred Qualifications Two (2) years medical surgical nursing experience and has successfully completed a critical care program or consolidation in critical care; Recent courses in coronary care, critical care; UoHI Cardiac Nursing Series; Experience reading and interpreting 12 lead ECG's; Member RNAO; Member CCCN. Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment. Responsibilities include assessing patient learning needs, implementing the nursing process, and delivering compassionate care.

Requires a registration certificate from the College of Nurses of Ontario and two years of critical care nursing experience. Advanced proficiency in both English and French is required for this bilingual position.
