Rotation/Shifts Days and nights, including weekends, 12 hour shifts. For information purposes only - The Hospital reserves the right to change. Basic Requirements Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Three (3) months recent experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and/or in a Special Care Nursery; Three (3) months recent ventilator experience; Demonstrates a sound knowledge of the nursing process; Demonstrates a desire and ability to participate in patient teaching; Demonstrates a professional and respectful attitude to patients, to the public and to colleagues; Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as an active member of the health care team; Identifies a commitment to personal continuing education activities; Demonstrates understanding of and participation in the evaluation process; Demonstrates an understanding of the application and relevance of the nursing audit; Eligible to work in Canada. Preferred Qualifications A degree in nursing; Neonatal High Risk course; Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4 - advanced) and comprehension (level 4 - advanced). The Ottawa Hospital uses a 5-level language proficiency scale to define the required level of language skills in English and in French for positions at the Hospital, and to evaluate job candidate language skills. Provide specialized nursing care to infants in the Special Care Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver compassionate, high-quality patient care and participate in patient teaching.

Requires a registration certificate from the College of Nurses of Ontario and recent experience in a NICU/Special Care Nursery including ventilator use. A nursing degree and proficiency in English and French are preferred.
