Location: Red Lake (Northwestern Ontario), Canada Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off Shift Length: 12 hours Salary Range: $118,000 - $168,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid Travel: Commercial flight from airport closest to point of hire Accommodations: Camp Benefits: Redpath offers comprehensive benefits including but not limited to health, dental and vision care, life insurance, pension and employee assistance program Pre-employment requirement: Drug and Alcohol Testing, Criminal Record Check Job Summary: The primary role of a Bolter is to inspect existing underground headings, scale loose rocks and install ground support to stabilize rock mass and ensure safety. The tasks may involve the operation of scaling bars, pneumatic hand-held drills, use of rubber-tired underground mobile equipment such as LHD (Load-Haul-Dump) units, scissor trucks, scoop or other support vehicles in a confined environment. This job would be primarily bolting from X-Lift * Proficient in Hand held drilling -Jackleg and Stoper * Installing 8' , 6' rebar, 6' split Sets, 6' , 8' Paddle bolts, 10' and 15' spin cables * Installing pipe/vent, operate scoop/drill with Jumbo if qualified RESPONSIBILITIES General: * Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings * Drill holes using hand-held pneumatic drills or drill-boom mounted on bolter * Insert rock bolt following approved method of installation * Install other ground support components as required such as welded wire mesh and shotcrete * Install or fix existing mine services such as vent tubing and pipes using various lifting equipment such as scissor trucks chain blocks and hand tools * Follow directives from shift supervisors to coordinate day to day ground control requirements * Assess all excavations and install ground support in development or reconditioned areas as per plan and section as the development progresses * Keep track of all advances and communicate to supervisors and cross shifts footages and volumes * Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner * Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage * The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive Health and Safety: * Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment * Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions * Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment. * Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet. * Comply with the Mine Regulation Act and Regulations clauses that apply to your work area. QUALIFICATIONS Work Experience: * 3 years or more experience bolting with a jackleg and stoper * Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or other provincial equivalent) * Required Specialty Modules: U0068B (or other provincial equivalent) * Ability to multi task and work effectively * Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently * Good communication skills * Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment * Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor In 1962, Jim Redpath’s vision for the company was much the same as it is today; offering a high level of service to the mining industry, which exceeds current standards and provides challenge for its employees.
