Role: Business Systems Analyst Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia (5 days Onsite) Duration: Contract We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) on a contract basis to support payment application initiatives with a focus on wire processing, including SWIFT and Fedwire. The ideal consultant will bring strong functional expertise in ISO 20022 standards, payment message structures, and end‑to‑end wire processing workflows. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and external vendors to deliver enhancements, ensure compliance, and support ongoing operational needs. Required Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems, Finance, or related field. 3-8 years of relevant BSA experience in Payment Applications in banking or financial services. Strong knowledge of wire payments, including SWIFT MT/MX, Fedwire, and cross‑border payment flows. Hands‑on experience with ISO 20022 message standards and implementation guidelines. Ability to read and interpret XML, XSD, and payment message schemas. Experience with payment hubs, core banking systems, or treasury platforms. Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills. Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities Business & Functional Analysis Gather, analyze, and document business requirements for wire payment systems (SWIFT MT/MX, Fedwire). Translate business needs into functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Evaluate existing payment workflows and recommend improvements to efficiency, compliance, and STP performance. Payments Systems Expertise Support system enhancements for wire processing applications. Analyze and interpret SWIFT MT/MX messages, Fedwire messages, and ISO 20022 schemas. Assist in ISO 20022 migration efforts, including message mapping and validation. Review and validate data transformations, message routing, and integration points. Project & Delivery Support Participate in payment modernization projects, regulatory updates, and system upgrades. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Operations, Compliance, Treasury, and Technology. Support UAT planning, test execution, and defect triage. Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory, security, and operational standards. Technical Collaboration Work with developers, architects, and QA teams to ensure solutions align with business requirements. Assist in troubleshooting production issues related to payment messages, routing, or settlement. Support API and middleware integrations used in payment processing.
