Employment Type: Permanent Full-Time Location: HEADQUARTERS BUILDING, 200 Maple Grove Road, Cambridge, ON Shift: Rotating Shift Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week Number of Positions: 20 Association: Waterloo Regional Police Association Reason for Vacancy: New Positions 2026 Salary: In-Training (Starting Salary): $71,854 Fourth Class (Return from OPC - then 14 months): $84,535 Third Class (14 months after): $94,770 Second Class (14 months after):$104,156 First Class (14 months after):$120,166 Description The Patrol Officer attends emergent and non-emergent calls for service, attends/monitors community events, conducts investigations and liaises with other agencies. Legislative requirements The Ontario Community Safety and Policing Act (CSPA) outlines some minimum requirements for police officers. You must: Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. Be at least 18 years of age. Be physically and mentally able to perform the duties of the position, having regard to your own safety and the safety of members of the public. Have completed at least four years of secondary school diploma or its equivalent. Be of good moral character and habits, meaning that you are an individual other people would look upon as being trustworthy and having integrity. Additional WRPS requirements A valid OACP Certificate Meet Constable Selection System Hearing and Vision Requirements as outlined by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP). Possess a valid Ontario driver`s licence with full privileges and no more than six accumulated demerit points Possess a Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certificate Be able to pass a security clearance and background investigation, credit and reference checks. If you have any criminal convictions under a federal statute, you must obtain a pardon. If you have 'Findings of Guilt', which have resulted in absolute or conditional discharges, the records must be 'sealed' by the RCMP. This will be done automatically following one year if the absolute discharge is registered after July 24, 1992. For a conditional discharge, this will be done automatically following three years if the conditional discharge is registered after July 24, 1992. Otherwise, you must apply to have these records sealed.
