Position title: Director of Finance Job type: Permanent, full-time Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer About us: We open doors for youth and prevent adult homelessness. We serve at-risk youth experiencing homelessness, aging out of care, or fleeing violence in the home. Young adults who need a place to call home and people who believe in them. We offer safe housing, community, and support to help youth make healthy choices and shift toward a brighter future. Position Overview: Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Finance provides strategic leadership for financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and risk management, ensuring compliance with regulatory and funding requirements and supports evidence-based decision-making in alignment with the mission and values of Threshold Housing Society. The role also leads payroll oversight and supports the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of payroll operations, while overseeing benefits administration to ensure compliance and a positive employee experience. In addition, the Director oversees IT systems to ensure they are secure, efficient, and aligned with organizational needs. The Director is also responsible for developing and enhancing finance, payroll, and related policies and processes to strengthen governance, internal controls, and operational consistency. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. The salary range is $81,900 - $108,615 per year dependent on experience and related skills. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation required or strongly preferred. Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, including senior leadership experience. Demonstrated experience overseeing complex payroll environments; PCP or CPM considered an asset. Demonstrated experience overseeing financial operations, budgeting, audits, and compliance within a non-profit or public sector environment. Proven experience presenting financial information to senior leadership, Boards, or Finance Committees. Experience managing and developing teams, including direct supervision. Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Proficiency in financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications Experience working with government or funded programs, including reporting and compliance requirements, considered an asset. Working Conditions Full-time permanent position (37.5 hours per week). Operates out of the head office but this position but may be required to visit other Threshold sites. Occasional travel is required to attend events, conferences, and meetings. Threshold will provide a yearly training and professional development allowance.
