Team: Reproductive Science Rate of Pay: $24.07 per hour Category: Grant (Non-Permanent) Duration: Starting ASAP, approx. 6-months. Position Purpose: The Grant Reproductive Research Technician under the guidance of the Senior Reproductive Science Research Assistants and the Science Development Manager, will assists with various research/service projects, field research, public outreach, developing education materials, data collation and report writing. This position will assist and provide support in implementing the Strategic Plan. CORE ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provides assistance with various research projects as directed by manager or Senior Research Assistants. * Conducts lab or field research, compiles and analyzes research/service data and reports on results. * Organizes, catalogues and processes biological samples for analysis. * Provides assistance with the program resources and educational materials related to research/service projects. * Performs and oversees daily lab maintenance for assigned projects. * Delivers public outreach such as tours, presentations, and workshops. * Assists with writing articles, blogs, and other public communications. * Performs literature searches and reviews. * Provides assistance in pursuing funding, including research and content for grant proposals and reports. * Provides regular updates to the Manager and Senior Research Assistants. * Follows all policies and branch instructions. * Attends appropriate training as required. TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: * Must have a post-secondary diploma or degree related to the field, minimum of 2 years completed or the equivalent amount of training and related experience. * Must have a minimum of 1-year proven experience in the same or similar position. * Must have proven, strong organizational skills. * Must possess an understanding of research methods, general lab function and technical knowledge related to the assignment. * Must ensure all applicable licenses and certificates remain valid and in good standing. Copies of licenses and certificates to be provided at time of hire and upon renewal. * Well-developed interpersonal skills, along with strong communications skills. * Working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and WHMIS legislation an asset. * An unrestricted Class G driver’s license valid in the Province of Ontario along with a good driving record is an asset. * Must be knowledgeable in the use of computerized programs and systems. * Must be able to work weekends, shifts and holidays as scheduled. * Must be able to deal with staff and public in a courteous and efficient manner. * Capable of meeting the physical requirements of the position.
