Fitness Centre Monitor

Job Details Part-Time Posting Status Open to all current Town of Oakville employees and external applicants. Recreation Services is now accepting applications for Fitness Centre Monitors from qualified individuals interested in pursuing part-time employment with the Town of Oakville. Fitness Centre Monitor Pay Rate : $22.05 - $27.56 per hour Hours: Vary, up to a maximum of 24 hours per week Job Responsibilities Fitness Centre supervision focused on safety, etiquette and exceptional customer service. Monitoring and instructing patrons on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipment Providing Fitness Centre users with fitness information and promoting Town of Oakville programs and services. Providing fitness center orientations and tours; cleaning, upkeep and small repairs of equipment; maintain optimal operation of center; educate customers of fitness center etiquette Other duties as assigned Please note, as a certified personal trainer you are eligible to train clients who purchase personal training sessions, and will be compensated at the personal training rate when training clients. Qualifications Enrollment in or completion a degree/diploma in a related field (i.e. Kinesiology, Fitness/Health Promotion) or equivalent background and experience is preferred A Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification is preferred CSEP-CEP, FIS and other specialty training certificates; or equivalent would be considered an asset Current Intermediate First Aid with CPR C (formerly Standard First Aid with CPR C) from a WSIB-approved provider, issued within the last three (3) years and valid throughout the term of employment. Please note that this position requires a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector screening check dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment. Supervise the fitness centre with a focus on safety, etiquette, and customer service while instructing patrons on the correct use of equipment. Provide orientations, perform equipment upkeep, and promote Town of Oakville programs and services.

Preferred qualifications include a degree or diploma in Kinesiology or Health Promotion and a recognized Personal Training Certification. Mandatory requirements include current Intermediate First Aid with CPR C and a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector screening check.
