Job Details Part-Time Posting Status Open to all current Town of Oakville employees and external applicants Closing Date Applications for this position must be received at by no later than 11:59 pm on December 31, 2026. This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Applications will be considered for any openings that become available between now and December 31, 2026. This is a part-time position working part-time hours, by course appointment, varied at 1.5 hours to 9 hours weekly Job Responsibilities To provide instruction to children, youth and adults in the QEPCCC Community Kitchen. Must be an independent, reliable individual able to work with minimal supervision and expected to develop lesson plans and provide recipes. Does not purchase ingredients - this is done by a kitchen technician. Specific Duties Develop program specific curriculum, preparing, and teaching culinary classes in the Community Kitchen, introducing children (10-12 years), youth and adults to food preparation and handling. Assist in the research and development of appropriate culinary programming for beginner and practicing cooks, ensuring that art activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants Provide a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants Follow food, health and workplace safety standards. Adhere to all Health and Safety procedures/standards. Ensure all safe food handling practices are followed by program participants. Maintain the kitchen facility and equipment in good order. Qualifications Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program in Culinary Arts or a related discipline Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of cooking Familiar with a broad range of techniques, practices and materials with one or more of the following interests/skills: baking, canning, cooking, meal planning, table setting and etiquette, world dishes Experience developing lesson and activity plans Previous teaching experience in an educational setting Strong organizational, planning, time management and leadership skills Ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences Ability to work independently Safe Food Handling Certification HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is required for instructing children’s programs ages 4-12 years. Emergency First Aid with AED/CPR B Please note that this position requires a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector screening check dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment. Candidates who are under the age of 18 at the time of hire will only be required to provide a criminal record check. Letters of application should address the candidate’s expertise in the areas of teaching, professional work, and community service.
