Job Details Part-Time Posting Status Open to all current Town of Oakville employees and external applicants. Duration Contract hours, by course appointment, varied at 1 to 8 hours weekly Closing Date Applications for this position must be received at by 11:59 pm on December 31, 2026. This posting is for current and future opportunities and will be filled on an as needed basis. Job Responsibilities To provide instructional art classes in a drawing and painting to children, youth and adults in a studio arts. Must be an independent, reliable individual able to work with minimal supervision and expected to assist in developing curriculum. Responsibilities Master instructors are responsible for developing program specific curriculum, preparing and teaching classes to ages 3+ in any of the following media: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking Master Instructors Will Prepare, lead and deliver visual art classes to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program Assist in the research and development of appropriate arts programming for beginner and practicing artists, ensuring that art activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants Provide a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants Qualifications Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program in Visual Arts or a related discipline Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of contemporary visual art Familiar with a broad range of artistic techniques, practices and materials with one or more of the following interests/skills: painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, mixed media. Experience developing lesson and activity plans Previous teaching experience in an educational setting Strong organizational, planning, time management and leadership skills Ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences Ability to work independently HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is required for instructing children’s programs ages 4-12 years. Please note that this position requires a satisfactory criminal record and vulnerable sector screening check dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment. Candidates who are under the age of 18 at the time of hire will only be required to provide a criminal record check. Letters of application should address the candidate’s expertise in the areas of teaching, professional work, and community service. All applicants must be able to provide a portfolio that demonstrates all of the above during the interview process.
