About the Role The Township of Oro-Medonte is currently seeking applicants for the full-time role of Equipment Operator. The applicant will report to the Operations Division of the Operations & Community Services Department. During the winter season, this position may be scheduled for afternoon shifts as required to support operational requirements. The Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation of trucks in excess of 1 ½ ton capacity with dump box, sander, and snowplow wing attachments. Highlights of key responsibilities include: * Operation of front-end loader, excavator, skid steer, pumper/water truck, tractor with blower attachment, 1-ton pickup truck with snowplow blade and sander/sander attachments, street sweeper, trailers and brush chipper; * Reviewing and following up on work orders as directed; * Responding to emergency roadside tree removal; * Installation of barricades for road closures/detours; * May also perform light maintenance of equipment; * Other duties as assigned. What you Bring The applicant must have completed grade 12 or equivalent combined with a minimum of two years related experience; have sound knowledge of maintenance and construction practices as well as being competent in operating construction equipment and large commercial motor vehicles. The successful candidate must be able to meet the physical requirements of this position, which will include but is not limited to shoveling, raking, sweeping, bending, lifting, carrying and the use of heavy equipment and supplies. Experience with municipal road maintenance and construction would be an asset. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and will be required to work stand by and/or on call shifts; Must be available to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays in a variety of environmental conditions. A valid Ontario Class “DZ” Driver’s License and a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract are also required for this role. What we Offer This bargaining unit position offers a salary commensurate with experience and education (2026 Salary range $28.08 to $33.74 per hour), plus a competitive and attractive benefit package.
