Where Is The Work Service Technician – Job Description A Service Technician is an experienced field professional responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. This role typically includes a mix of hands‑on technical work, customer interaction, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring high‑quality service delivery. Key Responsibilities Perform advanced diagnostics on HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems. Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures using technical expertise and manufacturer guidelines. Conduct preventive maintenance to improve system performance and reduce downtime. Install, commission, and test new equipment or system upgrades. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior or apprentice technicians. Document service activities, including parts used, work performed, and recommendations. Maintain strong customer relationships, explaining findings and solutions professionally. Interpret schematics and technical manuals for complex systems. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, regulations, and company standards. Recommend system improvements or replacement solutions based on customer needs. Typical Qualifications Extensive hands‑on field experience in HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical service, or a related trade. Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and control systems. Technical certifications (HVAC licenses) depending on region. Strong communication and customer‑service skills. Proficiency with service tools, diagnostic equipment, and digital work order systems.
