Trevor Frances Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization to recruit a Purchasing Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented procurement professional who enjoys building supplier relationships, coordinating purchasing activities, and ensuring materials are available to support production. Working within a collaborative manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for purchasing raw materials, managing supplier communications, maintaining inventory data, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget. What You'll Do As the Purchasing Specialist, you will play an integral role in supporting procurement and inventory planning activities while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Create, issue, and manage purchase orders for raw materials and product samples using multiple business systems. Communicate with suppliers to confirm pricing, lead times, product availability, and order status. Monitor purchase orders to ensure timely deliveries and proactively address potential delays. Resolve pricing discrepancies, receiving issues, quality concerns, freight claims, and supplier performance issues. Maintain accurate landed costs and purchasing information within company systems. Collaborate closely with Research & Development, Planning, Production, Sales, Receiving, and Quality teams to understand material requirements and support production schedules. Establish and maintain appropriate safety stock levels and reorder points to optimize inventory and improve on-time delivery performance. Maintain the product sampling database and ensure all information is accurate and up to date. Obtain freight quotations and coordinate transportation costs for imported raw materials. Support sourcing initiatives and provide administrative assistance to the purchasing team as required. Complete additional purchasing and clerical duties as assigned. What You'll Bring Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related discipline. 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain, preferably within a food manufacturing environment. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret purchasing, inventory, and cost data. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong communication and relationship-building skills with suppliers and cross-functional teams. Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve purchasing challenges effectively. Experience using purchasing, inventory management, or ERP systems. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Commitment to ethical purchasing practices and maintaining data integrity. Preferred Qualifications Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with Oracle or another ERP system is considered an asset.
