PAYROLL PROFESSIONAL – CALGARY (CAT) The Payroll Professional is responsible for the accurate and timely administration of full-cycle semi-monthly Canadian payroll, including payroll reporting, account reconciliations, statutory remittances, year-end processing and audit support. Responsibilities: Ensure that Trican's core value, "Safe equipment and operations" is the priority in all activities Administer full-cycle semi-monthly payroll for hourly, salaried, and variable compensation employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing. Process in-house payroll transactions, including payroll data entry, audits, reporting, and resolution of payroll-related inquiries. Prepare, validate, and process semi-monthly Canadian payrolls in Workday, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, benefits, and deductions. Prepare and maintain payroll reporting, year-end reconciliations, T4 processing, and Records of Employment (ROE) administration. Maintain accurate, confidential payroll records and employee data within the HRMS. Collaborate with Finance on payroll reconciliations, journal entries, remittances, and audit requirements. Prepare and analyze recurring and ad hoc payroll reports. Maintain payroll procedures and documentation to support compliance and operational consistency. Coordinate disability, salary continuance, and WCB payments in partnership with Human Resources. Ensure compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation, payroll regulations, corporate policies, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies, implementing payroll best practices, and effectively communicating process enhancements to stakeholders. Experience & Skills: 3–5 years of full-cycle payroll experience required; year-end payroll processing experience is strongly preferred. Previous experience with Workday is highly desirable. Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is an asset. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve payroll-related issues, prioritize competing demands, and deliver accurate results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Professional, service-oriented approach with the ability to interact effectively and confidentially with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
