SENIOR UNDERWRITING SPECIALIST, CONTRACT SURETY TORONTO The successful applicant will be a passionate and results oriented surety professional with strong technical underwriting capabilities and a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive broker and client relationships. The role combines financial and risk analysis with business development, account management, and portfolio growth responsibilities, making it an ideal opportunity for an experienced underwriter seeking continued professional growth within a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment. As an integral member of the team, you will bring: Demonstrated capability for outstanding customer service and building long-term relationships with brokers and contractors Proven track record for problem resolution and ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate underwriting risks Strong financial statement analysis and credit assessment capabilities Ability to develop solutions to complex underwriting and account management challenges Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to underwriting excellence Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong work ethic, and the ability to work well, both independently and in a team-based environment Strong decision-making skills and sound professional judgement Advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook Accountabilities Include Underwrite new and existing contract surety accounts in accordance with company guidelines and delegated authority Analyze, assess and monitor the financial strength of new and existing accounts Prepare underwriting recommendations, account reviews, and credit presentations for management approval Negotiate underwriting terms, conditions, security requirements, and facility structures with brokers and contractor clients Proactively identify new business opportunities through networking and marketing with brokers, contractors, and other industry partners Represent Trisura at various associations and industry related functions Contribute to underwriting solutions, process improvements, and best practices across the department in general Maintain awareness of construction industry trends and market conditions Expand upon industry knowledge to improve underwriting decisions through courses and training Qualifications Successful completion of BCom, or BA with Business, Accounting or Finance focus 5+ years’ experience in Contract Surety, Accounting, Finance or Banking Bilingual in French and English is an asset Location: Downtown Toronto – Hybrid Salary The expected salary in this position is within the range of $95,000-$145,000 This salary range reflects the expected base compensation for the role across Canada. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities.
