Job Summary The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Hao-Ting Wang, Principal Investigator (PI), at Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health (DMCBH) to support the coordination and execution of research projects in the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, neuroinformatic, and mental health. The incumbent will play a central role in curating and performing preliminary analyses of neuroimaging datasets for grant submission. They will also be involved in other lab projects and activities, including research, local, provincial and national collaborations, and regular lab meetings. Organizational Status The research assistant reports to Dr. Hao-Ting Wang. The CODA Lab is part of the DMCBH. We investigate the neurocognitive processes that shape how we experience daily life, and their support and disruption in mental health conditions. We combine neuroimaging, behavioural measures, and phenotypic data in a transdiagnostic framework. We aim to conduct reproducible research and share our tools openly with the community Work Performed ● Curate datasets and create an inventory and procedures for data storage on the computing server ● Prepare statistical reports for datasets and perform statistical analysis for ongoing research projects ● Annotate naturalistic neuroimaging datasets ● Preprocess neuroimaging data with existing tools and create workflows ● Help with preparation of data usage agreement and other data access-related paperwork ● Create summary statistics and analysis of data quality on curated datasets. ● Coordinate data access and ethics submissions, renewals and amendments ● Assist with the preparation of knowledge translation materials, presentations and papers, both internal and external, academic and public ● Provide training and direct the work of undergraduate students, new or lower-level research assistants in lab/project procedures ● Complete other related research and administrative duties as needed Consequence of Error/Judgement Accountability and responsibility of this position is high. The consequence of error could result in lost data, inefficient workflow, compromised integrity and success of research projects and the research lab. Supervision Received This position will report directly to Dr. Hao-Ting Wang, PI. Supervision Given May oversee and direct the work of one student and/or lower-level technicians. Minimum Qualifications High school graduation, some additional training in a related field and a minimum two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own - Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred Qualifications ● A university degree in a relevant discipline: Statistics, Computer Science ● Experience in data science, healthcare data, and/or managing sensitive information ● Experience with statistical methods including multivariate statistics, Bayesian statistics and linear/non-linear mixed-effects models ● Proficiency in the programming languages R, Python, SQL and Markdown ● Proficiency in version control tool Git/Github ● Strong interests in human fMRI analysis ● Strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills ● Strong ability to learn quickly and function proactively and independently
