PICU Research Project Coordinator, Paediatrics

Description The Department of Paediatrics in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a PICU Research Project Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. The PICU Research Program is a growing clinical research program in pediatric critical care, based at the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Our multi-professional team is dedicated to advancing knowledge and improving outcomes for critically ill children and their families. We engage with patients, families, and a healthcare team to ensure our research is relevant to all key parties. We lead local and multi-center trials and collaborate nationally and internationally on multi-center trials led at other institutions. Our program includes epidemiological, observational, interventional, educational, quality improvement, and qualitative methodologies. The Research Coordinator will receive general guidelines and direction from the Program Manager, but they are expected to work with a high level of independence. They will oversee the day-to-day operations of research studies, and use professional judgement to make decisions and resolve issues as they arise. This position will be on site at the Alberta Children's Hospital and the successful candidate will be required to provide a current Police with Vulnerable Sector Check as well as up to date vaccination records. Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to): Coordinating research projects. Develop project timelines and monitor and meet project deadlines Work with the Program Manager and Program Director to design, develop and execute research and co-design projects Work with clinicians, patient and family partners to design and execute projects Leads the day-to-day operational aspects of projects, and prepare project communication (reports, correspondence, presentations, and manuscripts) Leads the development and implementation of the planning development processes, organizing meetings, setting agendas and coordinating meetings with stakeholders Works collaboratively to determine priorities, establish goals and objectives, develop and implement action plans, identify performance measures/targets, and monitor/evaluate progress toward performance targets Leads the preparation and monitoring of budgets for the projects, including operational activities consistent with the plans and general guidelines. Monitors projects and plans and reports any variance from expected outcomes to the PI. Collaborates with the PI to meet financial targets Supervises Research Assistants by providing in-scope supervision to RAs by delegating tasks, monitoring progress on the study, and coordinating day-to-day activities related to the study Qualifications / Requirements: Minimum 5 years of related work experience in clinical trial coordination, is required (preferably in pediatric critical care) Advanced knowledge of University of Calgary policies/procedures related to research is required, including research ethics, AHS operational approvals, contracts, agreements, and financial processes Clinical research ethics training, including TCPS2-2022, CITI training ICH-GCP, and Health Canada Division 5 required PhD or other post-graduate training in a health or research-related field an asset Experience working with healthcare provider, patient and family engagement in research an asset Experience working with a variety of stakeholders to develop relationships and achieve shared goals Experience in project management and change management practices an asset Experience with Data Management Ability to take initiative, work independently with accountability, as well as work as a part of a team is required Application Deadline: September 22, 2026 We would like to thank all applicants in advance for submitting their resumes.
