The Men's Volleyball Program at the University of Guelph is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join the team as lead Assistant Coach. This position plays a key role in supporting the continued growth and competitive success of the program at the U SPORTS level. The Assistant Coach will work in collaboration with the Head Coach to provide leadership, mentorship, and technical expertise to student-athletes while upholding the mission and values of the university and athletic department. The successful candidate must value diversity of experiences and perspectives and will play a significant role in supporting and enhancing Athletic and Recreation’s Safe Sport, Indigenization, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and community building efforts, actions and initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities Assist in planning and conducting all team practices, training sessions, and game strategies. Recruitment and identification of prospective student-athletes. Support the development of individual athletes through technical, tactical, physical, and mental skill development. Contribute to scouting, video analysis, and game preparation. Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team environment aligned with university policies and codes of conduct. Help with various fundraising tasks by means of sponsorship, alumni donors and youth camps/clinics. Requirements Completion of an undergraduate degree. Minimum 3 years of competitive coaching experience, preferably at the post-secondary, national, or club level. NCCP Level 3 or equivalent experience through Volleyball Canada Coach Development pathway (Development/Performance stream). Strong understanding of the university sport landscape and the U SPORTS system. Proven ability to coach and mentor student-athletes with a holistic development approach. Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Proficient in video analysis tools (PerfBook and BallTime) as well as in game stat programs. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and travel with the team. Preferred Attributes Experience in recruiting within a high-performance sport environment. Background in strength and conditioning, sport psychology, or performance analysis considered an asset. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in sport.
