POSITION SUMMARY Reporting to the Coaldale RCMP Detachment Commander and/or the RCMP Office Manager, the RCMP Coordinator will assess and respond to enquiries, complaints, and requests for information and services from the general public. The incumbents will select and relay pertinent information from data banks and background from files to police officers using a police radio, and action requests for additional back-up and/or assistance. In these positions the incumbent may be exposed to serious subject matter. JOB DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Support RCMP members with files and requests Assist general public by answering phones and front counter complaints/questions Researching, auditing and monitoring data and information from investigation files Complete accident reports, take written statements, verify documents and issue damage stickers for accidents reported at the detachment Provide criminal record checks using all available police record management systems and court records Provide clerical functions that include filing, data input (PROS, JOIN and CPIC) Complete Crime mapping for public transparency Court liaison person; type all court documents, ensure court packages are complete and forwarded to the court Complete disclosure for Crown Type statements using Dictaphone/digital recorders as required Contact person between the RCMP members and provincial and federal agencies as well as the first point of contact for general public entering the buildings or calling the detachment Other duties as assigned to support RCMP and/or Peace Officers WORKING CONDITIONS Ability to attend meetings outside of regular business hours. Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals. Evening and weekend event obligations when required. Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required. Normal working day consists of 7.5 hours; however occasional overtime may be required. HEALTH, SAFETY & ADMINISTRATION All employees of the Town of Coaldale are governed by and must be compliant with the Town of Coaldale Safety Program. Ensure all operations are performed in a safe manner and in accordance with the Town of Coaldale policies, as well as the law as set forth by Alberta’s Occupational Health and Safety Act. Will report to the Town of Coaldale Enforcement Services Manager for all Town of Coaldale administrative functions. Requirements REQUIREMENTS All required enhanced reliability security clearances Two-year diploma in a field related to Office or Business Administration preferred; combination of education and experience will be considered Ability to exercise good judgement and ability to prioritize in a changing environment Maintain a high degree of accuracy and organization Ability to communicate tactfully, clearly, discreetly and effectively in person and on the phone Strong computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office); PROS, CPIC, and JOIN. would be an asset This position will remain open until a suitable candidate has been found.
