Urban Legal Recruitment is very pleased to be partnering with our esteemed client, a Tier One national law firm and one of Canada's largest and most respected legal organizations, in the recruitment of a Billing Administrator to join its Finance team in Calgary. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and client-focused professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the successful candidate will play an integral role in the firm's National Billing Team, managing the complete billing cycle while providing exceptional service to both internal and external clients. Key Responsibilities Prepare client accounts by working closely with lawyers and legal assistants to generate prebills, prepare billing reports, and respond to regular and specialized billing requests. Review client accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with outside counsel billing guidelines. Submit invoices through a variety of client e-billing platforms and resolve any billing or submission issues. Assist with the monthly accrual process and related e-billing submissions. Respond to inquiries regarding billing procedures, invoices, templates, and client-specific billing requirements. Analyze billing reports, work in progress, disbursements, credits, and aged accounts to ensure timely and accurate billing. Identify billing discrepancies and work proactively to resolve issues. Contribute to continuous process improvements while supporting the overall objectives of the Finance team. Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess: A diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline. Approximately two years of billing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a law firm or professional services environment would be considered a strong asset; however, recent graduates with relevant education and a strong interest in legal finance are encouraged to apply. Experience with professional services billing software such as Aderant or Elite would be considered an asset. Familiarity with electronic billing platforms and outside counsel billing guidelines is an asset. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Outstanding communication and client service skills. The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment. Flexibility to work additional hours when required during peak billing periods.
