Our esteemed client, one of Canada’s leading national law firms, is seeking an experienced eDiscovery Case Manager to join its Calgary office. This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically skilled and highly organized eDiscovery professional to play a key role in managing the complete electronic discovery lifecycle for complex legal matters, investigations and compliance initiatives. Acting as a primary liaison between legal teams, technology professionals and external vendors, the successful candidate will ensure that electronically stored information is identified, preserved, collected, processed, reviewed and produced in an efficient, defensible and cost-effective manner. The eDiscovery Case Manager will work closely with lawyers, review managers, litigation support professionals and other members of the firm’s disputes team. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a highly collaborative professional environment. Key Responsibilities eDiscovery Project Management Coordinate all stages of the eDiscovery lifecycle, including identification, preservation, collection, processing, review, analysis and production of electronically stored information. Act as a key liaison between legal teams, technology professionals and external vendors, ensuring clear communication throughout each project. Develop and manage project timelines, budgets and workflows to ensure deliverables are completed accurately, on time and within scope. Work closely with review managers to ensure document review targets and deadlines are met. Promote adherence to eDiscovery best practices, defensible methodologies and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Provide legal teams and clients with regular updates regarding project status, key milestones, potential risks and recommended solutions. Technical Expertise and Support Manage the technical aspects of eDiscovery projects, including data collection, Boolean search queries, database management and document production. Process, ingest and produce documents and other electronically stored information using Relativity and additional review platforms. Advise on defensible data-collection practices and conduct on-site collections when required. Troubleshoot technical issues involving eDiscovery tools, databases and workflows. Create and maintain detailed documentation of project workflows, protocols and processes. Collaboration and Strategic Support Collaborate with lawyers, legal professionals and clients to understand matter-specific requirements and develop tailored eDiscovery solutions. Assist with custodian interviews to identify potentially relevant documents, data sources and information. Provide practical advice regarding eDiscovery workflows, defensible methodologies, emerging technologies and cost-effective strategies. Explain complex technical concepts clearly to clients and legal professionals who may not have a technical background. Document Review and Analysis Support document review and coding initiatives, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the review team. Prepare reports and analytics to assist legal teams with case strategy and decision-making. Participate in quality-control processes to maintain the integrity and accuracy of document productions. Qualifications and Experience Community college diploma in Information Technology or a related field. A minimum of three years of experience as an eDiscovery Analyst, eDiscovery Case Manager or in a comparable role. An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience will also be considered. Strong proficiency with Relativity and other document review platforms. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas and macros. Experience with SQL, Python or another programming or scripting language would be considered an asset. Strong knowledge of eDiscovery best practices, defensible methodologies, industry standards and applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Advanced troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities. Excellent organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with clients, lawyers, legal professionals, technology teams and external vendors. Professionalism, sound judgment and composure when working under pressure. A collaborative, team-oriented approach and a commitment to continuous learning. Additional Details This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with a minimum requirement of one day per week in the Calgary office and the remaining days available for remote work. The successful candidate must also have some flexibility to accommodate urgent deadlines, including occasional on-site work and evening or weekend overtime when required.
