Civil Engineering Project Engineer-in-Training/Technologist V3 Companies, a multidisciplinary AEC firm, is seeking a Project Engineer-In-Training/Technologist in our Sherwood Park, AB office, where you will contribute to career-defining projects that reimagine our built and natural world. You'll change the shape of your community by supporting growth through sustainable urban development creating impact that lasts. Because we believe new civil design engineers gain valuable experience by seeing how their team’s designs perform in the real world, you can expect to spend your first few years in this hybrid role, working primarily on-site during construction season and in the office during the winter months. To provide well-rounded training, we intentionally structure early-career opportunities to offer experience across our service lines, along with exposure to the technical, communication, project delivery, and leadership skills needed to grow as a professional. This could include working on projects in both our Transportation Planning and Design Group and our Land Development Group. Transportation Planning and Design involves urban and rural roadway projects, underground infrastructure rehabilitation, and rural servicing projects across Central and Northern Alberta. The Land Development Group works on greenfield land and site developments across residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Here’s what you’ll do: Work directly with experienced engineers, technologists, project managers, and company leaders to develop professional competencies in technical practice, communication, project delivery, client service, and leadership. To better understand the practical application of design principles, you will: Work closely with Project Managersand our Construction Services Coordinator in executing the tasks requiredof construction phase consultants on our projects. Interpret designdrawings for contractors. Monitor and observe construction activities for adherenceto the design. Participate in site meetings at a level commensurate with your expertise. Prepare progresspayment certificates and inspection reports. Serve as a critical resourceand communication link with clients, contractors and municipalities. Use Leica and Trimble GPS / total stationto perform topographic surveysand construction staking. Perform as‐built surveys for underground utility and roadway projectsand assist in project close‐out activities. Froma design perspective, you will: Work closely with Project Managersand Senior ProjectEngineers to execute the design and construction documents for our projects. Participate in the design and drafting of grading,stormwater management and infrastructure improvement plans for land development, transportation, and municipalprojects, utilizingAutodesk Civil3D. Perform earthwork calculations and surfaceanalysis for earth balance evaluations and contractor payment benchmarks during construction. Execute computer simulations for water distribution networks and hydraulicmodels. Support Transportation and traffic study projects as needed. Create projectunit price schedules and opinions of probable costs. Generate construction contract and specification documents. What we are looking for: 0 - 3 years of civil consulting experience. Land Development, Municipal Engineering and/or Transportation experience is a plus. Registered with APEGA or ASET as an E.I.T., T.T., or C.E.T. Demonstrated interest in pursuing professional registration and continuous professional growth. A desire to develop a broad understanding of consulting practice through exposure to design, construction, project delivery, and client service activities.
