We are seeking a Corporate Accountant to join our team, based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager, this role will work with multiple internal teams within the corporate accounting group performing accounting activities while ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal finance policies, accounting standards, and regulations. The position requires intermediate analytical skills and a solid understanding of financial principles. Duties And Responsibilities Prepare and post journal entries Maintain and reconcile the general ledger Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for Valard entities and follow up on outstanding bank transactions Review and reconcile intercompany transactions for both the balance sheets and income statements Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial data Perform month-end and year-end close recurring tasks as directed Assist with audit preparations and provide documentation as needed Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management May communicate and correspond with French-speaking stakeholders, and translate or review financial documentation in French as required Requirements Post-Secondary Education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in Corporate Accounting Strong technical acumen with software platforms such as the MS Office Suite, particularly Excel Preferred Skills / Qualifications Fluent in speaking, writing, and reading French to communicate and correspond directly with our Quebec-based colleagues as needed CPA designation, or working towards Previous experience with the Construction Industry Benefits We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
