The Opportunity We are currently seeking a Senior Metallurgist to join our Technical team in Long Harbour, NL. Relocation will be required for this role. The role is a permanent on-site position, working a 4x10s (Tuesday to Friday) schedule at the Long Harbour Operations site in Long Harbour, NL. As a Senior Metallurgist you will be responsible for production and metals accounting, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting and quality control systems. The position monitors plant processes, material balances, and metals recoveries to identify deficiencies that may impact production, costs, or operational performance, working closely with Technical, Operations, and Maintenance teams to implement effective solutions. Your experience and skills will act as a key technical resource, the role provides expertise on process fundamentals, water and metals balances, and supports the evaluation, development, and implementation of new technologies and process improvements to meet current and future business needs. Additionally, in this position you will: Comply with all Vale safety policies and procedures and leads by example Analyze plant performance versus design using plant material/METSIM balance and determines opportunities for improvement to increase value Analyze metals recovery versus design and determines opportunities for improvement to increase value Produce metals accounting monthly reports that form the basis of VNL financial reporting. Reports discrepancies noted between consumptions and stockpile inventories, investigates discrepancies, and prepares adjustments for approval as required. Maintain LHO metals accounting standards and revises accordingly. Audits performance of operations and maintenance teams versus requirements specified in metals accounting standards. Execute SOX controls on final inventory and alignment between SAP and shipping documentation Provide technical direction to Port reclaim operations on required feed blending requirements and forecasts impact of Voisey’s Bay metallurgical performance on Long Harbour Operations Maintain awareness of best-in-class and emerging chemical/metallurgical processes and process technology developments and make recommendations for assessment for potential adoption in Long Harbour Provide technical information to streaming partners and facilitates site visits/audits as stipulated in metals streaming agreements. Provide technical direction on process and equipment operational parameters required to meet plant production plan as a result of changing feed grades and feed sources. About You Education: Undergraduate Degree in a related technical field (i.e. process engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering); Professional Engineer Designation (P.Eng) is required. Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a complex industrial setting. Ability to develop mass balances and process simulation using METSIM (preferred). Skills: Leadership in safety practices and behaviours. Ability to take ownership of the work and possess work management skills (resourcing, planning & anticipating, results focused, time management, etc). Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Able to write clear and concise reports. Possess effective communication and interpersonal skills. Specific process technical expertise – fundamentals and practical aspects.
