Mobile Service Technician Fort St. John, British Columbia | Full-Time, Permanent Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Mobile Service Technician to support heavy-duty truck and trailer customers throughout the Fort St. John area. Working from a fully equipped mobile service vehicle, you will diagnose mechanical concerns, complete repairs and preventative maintenance, and provide timely, professional service at customer locations. This position is well suited to a technician who works safely, communicates clearly, and is comfortable managing field service calls with a high degree of independence. Compensation and Employment Details Hourly rate: $55–$65 per hour Additional compensation: Bonus eligibility, and Mobile premiums Employment type: Full-time, permanent Schedule: Regular working hours with participation in an on-call rotation, including occasional weekend coverage based on business needs Work setting: Onsite Key Responsibilities Travel to customer locations to diagnose, service, and repair heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Troubleshoot diesel engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and other mechanical systems. Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company standards. Explain findings, repair recommendations, and service status clearly to customers and service advisors. Complete accurate digital work orders, service records, parts documentation, and required reports. Maintain the mobile service vehicle, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean, organized, and service-ready condition. Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and operating procedures while working in the field. Represent the organization professionally and contribute to a responsive, customer-focused service experience. Required Qualifications Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers. Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, transmissions, hydraulics, and related components. Ability to work independently, prioritize service calls, and make sound decisions in field environments. Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills. Comfort using mobile devices, service applications, and digital work-order systems. Commitment to safe work practices, quality workmanship, and professional conduct. Flexibility to participate in an on-call rotation and occasional weekend coverage. Valid driver's licence and the ability to travel to customer sites, subject to company driving requirements. Preferred Qualifications Journeyperson certification or equivalent recognized trade qualification in heavy-duty equipment or commercial transport mechanics. Previous mobile, roadside, or field-service experience. Experience working with dealership diagnostic platforms and manufacturer service information. The work regularly involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, reaching, using hand and power tools, and lifting or carrying parts and equipment. Exposure to noise, changing weather, uneven surfaces, vehicle traffic, and shop or job-site conditions may occur.
