What You Would Do in This Role The Estimator supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of cost estimating, cost control, and project management systems, processes, resources, and tools. Duties include: Work with the Lead Estimator to plan, develop, and support cost estimates for capital projects, from conceptual to project authorization Plan, schedule, and coordinate estimate deliverables to support timely project execution Prepare and deliver estimates for projects of varying size, complexity, and phase of development Develop capital cost estimates using established work breakdown structures and coding frameworks Maintain cost histories, commodity data, and market tracking information Analyze estimate and schedule risks, assumptions, and potential cost impacts Take ownership of work products, outputs, and recommendations with appropriate independence and accountability Collaborate with Vista project managers to schedule and prioritize estimate deliverables Collaborate with client finance teams and project managers to support estimate development, review, and alignment Support the preparation of cost studies to evaluate design alternatives and identify economical solutions Prepare estimates for contract scope changes and extra work orders Perform other duties as requested Requirements Strong understanding of project cost estimation, with superior analytical skills and experience in financial analysis, modeling, and budgeting methodologies Strong Excel capability with a data-centered mindset, including the ability to structure, clean, analyze, validate, and present data to support informed decision-making Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and client stakeholders Ability to meet safety requirements for attending site visits Preferred Recognized university degree in engineering or a related field AACE accreditation, such as CCT, CCP, or CEP Five or more years of cost estimation experience in engineering or construction environments Experience in oil and gas projects, particularly well pads, pipelines, and SAGD Understanding of unit price development and benchmarking Why People Like Working with Us Working with Vista is a chance to contribute to the type of challenging municipal and industrial projects that the world requires.
