In Canada, our Hawkesbury, Ontario facility has been operating since 1985. Our team specializes in the manufacturing and maintenance of high-precision roll covers for paper machine rolls. These steel rolls, weighing up to 50 tons, play a critical role in the papermaking process and require exceptional precision and craftsmanship. Summary: Under the general direction of the Rubber Supervisor, the incumbent performs a variety of production operations, including handling compounded rubber, mixing rubber compounds, removing compounded rubber from the mill, cutting compounded rubber, applying cement, setting up roll supports, protecting journals, setting up the steam generator, configuring computer programs, and loading and unloading the pressure vessel. Key Responsibilities: Clean roll journals to remove dust, grease, and contaminants using appropriate cleaning agents. Inspect journals for scoring, wear, or damage and report any irregularities to the Production Supervisor. Set up extruder supports according to the roll diameter and face length. Position, align, level, and securely mount rolls in the chuck. Inspect blasted surfaces to verify proper finish and identify any defects. Prepare bonding cement according to the job traveler or roll construction specifications. Establish lead for base application when required. Set up the extruder using the appropriate die and temperature settings for each control zone. Load rubber into the extruder. Apply rubber to the roll by extruding a continuous rubber ribbon. Perform quality checks throughout the production process. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications & Requirements Previous manufacturing or machine operator experience is an asset but not required. Mechanical aptitude and an interest in hands-on work. Basic computer skills, including data entry for machine programs and production records. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety. Ability to read and work with the imperial measurement system. Flexible and available to work rotating day and afternoon shifts. Bilingual in English and French. Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination is required. Why Join Voith?
