Area Market Manager Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada Salary: CAD $55-65k About the Opportunity Our client is a dynamic, family-owned wine and spirits company with an eclectic and fast-growing portfolio of premium brands. With a strong global footprint and a distinctive collection of wine and spirits labels, the business works closely with international partners to activate, distribute and grow brand presence across both on-premise and off-premise channels. They are now seeking an Area Market Manager to support growth across the Vancouver market. This is a highly commercial, field-based role focused on driving volume, distribution, merchandising, pricing, importer engagement and key account activation across the territory. Key Requirements You will be an experienced wine, spirits, beverage or premium consumer goods sales professional with a strong understanding of market activation, importer or distributor management, and account development across both on-premise and off-premise channels. You will ideally bring: Strong experience within wine, spirits, beverages, FMCG, or premium consumer brands Proven ability to manage and influence importer, distributor, or wholesale partners Experience working across on-premise and off-premise channels, including retail, hospitality, bars, restaurants, and key accounts Strong understanding of volume, distribution, pricing, merchandising, stock levels, depletion management and brand execution Experience implementing trade programmes, sampling activity, demos, POS, displays and consumer activation initiatives Ability to build strong relationships with senior importer, distributor, retail, hospitality and key account stakeholders Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to track KPIs, monitor market activity and identify growth opportunities Comfortable spending significant time in the field, visiting accounts, surveying the market and ensuring brand standards are delivered Strong planning, communication and organisational skills A proactive, hands-on and entrepreneurial approach, with the ability to work independently across a defined territory Role & Responsibilities As Area Market Manager, you will be responsible for driving market growth and ensuring the portfolio receives strong focus, visibility and execution across the Vancouver territory. Your responsibilities will include: Managing the importer and distributor relationship, ensuring the portfolio remains front of mind and receives the right level of focus Working within the importer’s structure to support, direct and motivate sales, marketing and merchandising teams Supporting the Regional Market Director with the development and execution of the annual territory plan Managing the product portfolio across the territory, including regular travel to accounts and market locations Working closely with importer teams to monitor depletions, inventory levels and SKU performance, helping to prevent out-of-stocks and support future growth Activating key accounts across both on-premise and off-premise channels in partnership with the importer Building and maintaining relationships with senior management, supply chain, finance, marketing, regional teams, account executives, merchandisers and market directors Supporting the planning and execution of pricing structures, shelf pricing, POS, displays, menus, adverts and promotional programmes Implementing creative consumer activation activity, including sampling, demos and retail programmes Ensuring POS materials and other brand assets are used effectively and aligned with current programmes Participating in the development of programme-specific POS and local market support materials Spending regular time in the market to assess distribution, pricing, visibility, displays, programmes and account execution Attending importer planning and commercial meetings as required Supporting budget planning and helping ensure spend is managed effectively Ensuring all SKUs are positioned correctly and in line with brand standards Delivering agreed quantitative and qualitative KPIs across the designated market Why Join?
