General Description As an Operations Supervisor, you will play a critical leadership role within our Transfer Station business units, overseeing daily operations and ensuring the safe and efficient performance of Transfer Station Employees. Your responsibilities will include employee observations, leading monthly safety meetings, and maintaining compliance with company policies and industry regulations. You will be responsible for ensuring that safety, compliance, customer service, growth, sales, and financial targets are consistently met. Strong leadership, ethical decision-making, and professionalism are essential to success in this role. This is a 12-month contract with he possibility of permanent employment. As an Operations Supervisor with us, the minimum responsibilities are: Supervise and manage the daily operations of our City of Hamilton Transfer Stations. Review daily schedules to assess financial and operational performance of AZ Drivers, Transfer Station Attendants, and Equipment Operators. Conduct operational audits to ensure efficiency and compliance. Ensure all staff complete daily safety and maintenance inspections for all company sites, vehicles, and equipment. Plan and monitor employee schedules, maintaining communication throughout the day until all tasks are completed. Lead the recruitment process, including interviewing, selecting, and training new employees. Implement performance management processes, including progressive discipline as necessary. Conduct thorough incident investigations when necessary, including scene management, first incident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of preventive measures. Maintain and enforce Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) programs, including training, safety meetings, and compliance reporting. Ensure full compliance with company safety policies, MTO regulations, and other applicable industry guidelines. Schedule: Day Shift Monday to Friday, with rotating Saturdays on-site (every 3rd Saturday) as well as Tuesday to Saturday when a holiday occurs in the week. What We Need From You High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred. Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid DZ driver’s license is an asset Knowledge of MTO regulations. Experience with waste industry operations is an asset. Strong data entry and analytical skills. Union experience is an asset. A SAFETY-FIRST mindset with a proactive approach to workplace safety. Self-motivated with a strong ability to take initiative.
