Secondary School Credit International Languages Teacher & Occasional Teachers Italian Language St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region. The WCDSB also operates numerous Adult Learning and Continuing Education programs through St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres. Course Codes: LWIBD, LWICU, LWIDU General Description Of Program All language credit courses, follow Ministry of Education guidelines and are accepted as credits towards an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Current graduation requirements recognize at least one credit in a third language and learning one of these languages may also be used toward a . St. Louis offers up to 3 credits in each language and it take 110 hours of instruction to earn a credit. You will report to the Program Manager of the International and Indigenous Languages Program. General Description Of Duties Deliver the secondary school International Language curriculum in an in-person classroom Developing course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum document for International Languages Gr. 9-12: and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all students Utilize technology in delivering the course content Engage students in communicative, real life, task-based language activities which emphasize the 3 strands of oral, reading and writing Identifying students’ individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies including small group, individual, whole class, and co-operative learning experiences Evaluating the progress of students and discussing results with students and parents Creating annual reports of students’ performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvement Ensuring a safe academic environment conducive to learning in class and online Promoting positive attitudes towards, and encouraging enthusiasm for language learning Participating in staff meetings, educational conferences, instructor training workshops, and extracurricular cultural events and activities Minimum Requirements Hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered for teaching assignments) Fluency (reading, writing & speaking) in the language taught Eligible to work in Canada Available for in-person classes Desirable Assets Intermediate & Senior teaching qualifications in the credit language Demonstrable evidence of instructing in the credit language A certification in language instruction from an accredited College or University Hours of Work: Wednesdays 5:30 - 9:00pm 3.5 hours/ week Rate of Pay: $56.80/hour for OC certified Teacher $50.36/hour Existing Uncertified (previously recognized by WCDSB under grandfathering provisions) $46.83/hour + statutory & vacation pay for New Uncertified $49.07/hour Occasional Teacher Please be aware that applicants to St Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education are not required to be Catholic. Deliver the secondary school International Language curriculum through in-person instruction and develop course materials following Ministry of Education guidelines. Evaluate student progress, manage classroom environments, and participate in staff meetings and cultural activities.

Must hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification and possess fluency in Italian. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and available for in-person evening classes.
