Applies expert technological skills to support business continuity and emergency management data analysis. Supports the emergency management public education and training programs. Duties/Responsibilities Technology integration. Uses Microsoft office suite and other technology/systems to enhance communication, data collection and analysis within the business continuity framework. Assists in the review, extrapolation, and analysis of business continuity assessment data for all Regional divisions. Data analysis. Analyzes assessment data to provide critical listing reports related to people, places, and technological priorities. Creates training/awareness materials and documentation related to business continuity data analysis. Documentation and reporting. Maintains accurate records of technological processes, incidents, and outcomes, contributing to post-event analysis and continuous improvement efforts. Understands technological capabilities and the use of data to contribute to program planning and the team's readiness and effectiveness in emergency situations. Participates in collaborative meetings with all Regional divisions to review their business continuity assessment data analysis and validate the analysis. Provides support in the emergency management public education program and training development, including community messaging and adult learning engagement. Participates in team meetings (e.g., books participants/rooms; arranges catering, equipment, supplies; prepares agendas and minutes). Undertakes projects and participates on project teams related to initiatives, as directed. Works in a standard office environment. Travels for meetings, as needed. Performs related duties, as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be currently enrolled in a college, university or master’s program in engineering, information technology, business, finance, computer science, project management, emergency or business continuity management, or other relevant program. Technical proficiency and understanding of systems, tools, and technology. Strong presentation and analytical skills. Problem solving and solutions driven, with an ability to apply an innovative and creative mindset to improve processes related to business continuity and emergency management. Skill/proficiency using excel and reporting/data software such as PowerBI, to build analysis. Understanding of business continuity planning to support the organization’s resilience in the face of unforeseen events. Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation. Collaboration and relationship building skills. Ability to work as an effective team member. Communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills and experience. Organization skills with ability to multi-task. Time management and attention to detail skills. Ability to exhibit confidentiality/discretion in handling confidential/sensitive material. Ability to follow instructions; read and understand policies, procedures, forms and documents. This role will work in a hybrid working environment model with three days in office and two days remote working. Ability to travel within Waterloo Region. Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
