What you’ll do Production & Manufacturing: Support the production and manufacturing of industrial hoses used in surface and underground mining applications by interpreting drawings, sketches, and instructions to build hoses accurately. Daily Operations: Operate manual hose-building equipment including pneumatic impacts, textile cutting machines, lathes, hydrostatic test equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes to prepare and assemble hoses according to customer requirements. Learning & Development: Participate in an apprenticeship-style learning model, working alongside experienced Hose Builders to develop full competency over time, with success measured by skill progression, retention, and ability to work independently. Quality & Safety: Ensure manufacturing quality by using layout tables and measurement tools to meet specified tolerances, while demonstrating 100% commitment to zero harm behaviors and promoting a world-class safety culture. Shift & Travel: Work primarily day shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM) with potential for overtime and future shift changes, including possible night shifts after full training; no routine travel required. What you’ll bring Must-haves: Manufacturing experience or exposure to industrial/heavy commercial work environments. Ability to perform physical/manual labor and work collaboratively in a team setting. Strong attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn and be trained. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, use measurement tools, and understand basic mathematical concepts relevant to the role. Nice-to-haves: Previous hose building experience or related trades such as millwright or fabricator. Forklift and overhead crane operation experience. Knowledge of rubber manufacturing processes and industrial production environments. Experience working in mining support industries or heavy commercial operations. Why join Weir?
