Mi-Jack Operator/Laborer Weldco Heavy Industries (WHI) is a large steel fabrication and repair facility located in the Fort MacKay Caribou Energy Park. Strategically positioned in the heart of Alberts’s Oil Sands, WHI is able to effectively meet the requirements for large steel repair, assembly and refurbishment in the industry. Weldco Heavy Industries is currently recruiting for a Mi-Jack Operator/Laborer for the Fort MacKay location on a 2 weeks on/ 2 weeks off rotation, 12-hour shifts. Reporting to the Shop Foreman your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: What you will do: * Operate gantry crane, overhead crane & forklift to facilitate movement of parts/products * Move parts and finished products to and from the shop and yard * Read and interpret blueprints to ensure the correct parts are sorted appropriately * Maintain and organize areas, tag parts, store and locate parts * Follow work order directions and instructions given by supervisor * Perform other duties as required, such as sandblasting and painting The role is to move parts and products between facility locations to enable an efficient flow of job orders and ensure production schedules are met. You will be frequently operating the forklift and using other mobile equipment. Your qualifications: * High school diploma * One year of experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset * Overhead Crane & Rigging, Forklift, Fall Protection and Elevated Work Platform certification and experience is preferred * Experience working in the elements What you bring to the position: * Ability and willingness to work both inside and outside in various seasonal conditions * Knowledge of general safety practices * Organizational skills * Able to adapt to changing priorities * Time management skills to be efficient in a production environment * Strong ability to read blueprints, understand work orders and directions * Able to learn production flow and efficiency * Excellent communication skills – verbal and written, clear and concise * Interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others What we bring: * Competitive pay * Rewards - service rewards, employee discounts * Personal growth, career advancement opportunities * A workplace that prides itself on safety, cleanliness, respect, and results * Feedback and recognition for a job well done * A living allowance will be provided * No accommodations or transportation provided Please note: Successful candidates will undergo a pre-employment medical evaluation upon hiring.
