Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada. Reporting to the Safety Superintendent, the successful candidate will create and deliver safety training to all Mill members of the Red Lake Madsen Mine and provide overall support for the health and safety team. The Mill Safety Trainer position has flexibility in the work schedule and will be more clearly defined once the successful candidate’s location is confirmed. The focus of this role will include: Ensures activities are conducted in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Ontario) and Regulations and environmental standards Complies with all safety requirements and observes all company policies and procedures Grow a positive safety culture in keeping with the Madsen Site Be a catalyst and resource for Safe production ideas in the Mill environment Safety/Training resource for Mill Employees and Supervisors Develop relationships with operations and mill support teams Plan and schedule required training for compliance related issues Conduct New Hire inductions and keep induction updated with current information Audit and develop effective training programs Comply with required MTCU, OHS Act, CSA, and MOL requirements Maintain a mill training matrix Implement Site Safety programs, and be a safety coach for mill employees Follow guidance from Safety Coordinator and Training coordinator to keep alignment with overall safety department cohesion and path to zero harm Enforce safety rules and regulations Perform JTO, Audits, Risk Assessments Participate in safety discussions, huddles, safety meetings Assist in investigation coaching Provide practical training on mill mobile equipment Work with Supervisors to create Peer Training program Organise TTT certifications for peer trainers Arrange for OHS, First Aid, and supervisory common core certifications Track Safety stats for the mill Promote team-based field level risk assessments as a core daily habit Other duties as Madsen Mine grows Skills and Experience: 5-7 years previous Mill experience including 3 in safety training Ability to communicate to groups in a classroom and non-classroom setting. Ability to plan, organizes, implement and evaluate instruction Strong leadership and team building skills to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a diverse workforce Instills a “team” approach in working with other operating departments Must have a valid driver’s license. Good problem solving and decision making skills as well as superior written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal, influencing, analytical and problem solving skills Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment with the utmost professionalism, discretion and confidentiality is essential Mine Rescue experience is preferred Benefits Annual bonus program Travel allowance, accommodations and meals 100% employer paid extended health and dental program RRSP matching program ***Must be willing to produce a criminal background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol test*** Red Lake Madsen Mine is an equal opportunity employer who appreciates all those interested in working on this exciting project.
