Senior Accountant Toronto, Ontario (4 days in office) $85,000- $95,000 plus bonus and benefits Our client is a well-established and growing real estate investment and development organization with a diverse portfolio of assets across Ontario. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to join their finance team. Reporting to the Controller, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to financial reporting, accounting operations, and business analysis while working closely with cross-functional teams. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to join a collaborative, fast-paced organization with strong long-term growth potential. Responsibilities: Manage the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate development and stabilized assets. Prepare and post journal entries related to acquisitions, development costs, accruals, and other financial transactions. Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank, loan, and general ledger accounts. Support construction draw processes by preparing documentation and coordinating with project teams, consultants, and lenders. Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned properties and projects. Monitor project costs, budgets, contracts, purchase orders, and change orders. Prepare cash flow forecasts, liquidity reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis for development projects. Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with external audits, tax filings, and government reporting requirements. Manage corporate fee billings and collections related to development, asset management, and leasing activities. Provide financial analysis, reporting, and support for special projects as required. Qualifications: CPA designation (or actively pursuing completion). Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 2+ years of accounting experience within real estate development, property management, or a related industry. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and project accounting. Experience with construction accounting, project costing, and cash flow forecasting is considered an asset. Knowledge of HST filings and limited partnership structures is preferred. Experience using ERP or property management systems such as Yardi is an asset. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both finance and operational teams.
