We're a not-for-profit mental health centre based in Calgary, with locations across Alberta. Our mission is to build good mental health and well-being so everyone can thrive in their community. We're looking for a Youth Employment Counsellor to join our team! Please note, this position is based in Lethbridge, Alberta. Job Summary: The Youth Employment Counsellor assists youth in developing life and employment skills. This role requires networking within the community, generating and cultivating strong relationships with local businesses and developing partnerships with employers to secure community-based, long-term meaningful employment for at-risk youth. The Youth Employment Counsellor will demonstrate due diligence in being Exceptional in the delivery of high-quality services and in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes. Key Responsibilities: Effectively and confidently build relationships and galvanize partnerships with local businesses. Evaluate and help screen the potential employers to ensure the youth is a fit for the prospective employment placement Motivate youth who need to learn job readiness, confidence, life skills and vocational skills Trouble shoot with employers when a youth is struggling at his/her job placement. Support and meet with the youth regularly to ensure the job placement is working or what needs to be done to ensure success for the youth and the employer. Completes all required health and safety training. Reports workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to their direct supervisor. Working Conditions: Program locations consisting of schools, community-based, and residential Travel to local businesses and community locations Shift work and rotational schedule which may include weekdays, weekends, evenings, etc. Exposure to emotional situations Exposure to conflict situations Exposure to crisis situations Qualifications: Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing. Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees. Current CPR and First Aid certification. Full class 5 driver’s license or class 5 GDL driver’s license with $2 million liability insurance. Drivers Abstract with no more than 6 demerits. Work Experience Needed: Minimum two (2) years related experience. Experience working with young people. Experience working with at risk youth who have not had good success with employment. Exigences

Candidates must have a diploma or degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, or a related field, along with at least two years of experience working with at-risk youth. A valid Class 5 driver's license and current CPR/First Aid certifications are required.
