Photonics Design Engineer Company Overview World Star Tech is a leading manufacturer of laser systems for biomedical, instrumentation, and machine vision applications. Based in Markham, our modern facility is home to a dynamic team working on cutting-edge photonics technology. We are currently seeking a Photonics Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate is creative, technically skilled, and passionate about hands-on optical experiments and design. If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and bringing advanced laser systems to life, we’d love to hear from you. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and test custom laser systems and modules. Perform precision optical alignment of lasers and photonic assemblies. Develop custom tooling and fixture solutions for assembly and testing. Conduct measurement, characterization, and validation of optical components. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including inspection reports, test plans, and results. Source components, fixtures, and specialized test equipment. Rapidly prototype electro-optical assemblies to support product development. Qualifications Master's or PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field. Experience handling and characterizing photonic assemblies (lasers, detectors, etc.). Skilled in building and aligning opto-electronic assemblies. Knowledge of passive and active photonic component design. Proficient with small, sensitive optical component alignment techniques. Experience using Zemax and AutoCAD.
