WSP is seeking a strategic and accomplished Senior Director, Major Projects, Power Canada to lead the successful delivery of some of Canada's most complex and transformative power infrastructure projects. In this executive leadership role, you will oversee large-scale capital projects across Hydropower & Dams, Transmission & Distribution, Renewable Energy, and Telecommunications Infrastructure, providing governance, direction, and leadership from project development through commissioning and closeout. As the Senior Project Director, you will serve as the trusted advisor to clients and key stakeholders while guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects safely, sustainably, and profitably. Your Impact As Senior Director, Major Projects, you will: Provide director-level leadership and oversight for major power and energy infrastructure projects across Canada. Establish project execution strategies, governance frameworks, organizational structures, and decision-making processes. Ensure safe, efficient, and successful project delivery while achieving approved scope, schedule, quality, financial, and operational objectives. Build, mentor, and lead high-performing project leadership teams that foster accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Serve as the director-level interface with clients, contractors, regulators, Indigenous communities, and other key stakeholders. Drive commercial and financial performance for the major projects team through effective forecasting, contract management, risk mitigation, change management, and claims resolution. Align engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, commercial, safety, and quality teams toward shared project goals. Champion strong project governance through performance reporting, risk reviews, health assessments, and corrective action planning. Promote a robust safety culture while ensuring regulatory compliance, quality standards, and sustainable project practices. Lead project closeout activities for the major projects team, including client acceptance, commercial completion, lessons learned, and successful transition to operations. The Skills That Set You Apart Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Minimum 15 years of experience leading large-scale major projects within the power, energy, or heavy industrial sectors. Proven experience delivering complex projects involving Transmission & Distribution, Hydropower & Dams, Renewable Energy, or Power Infrastructure. Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams through feasibility, execution, commissioning, start-up, and project closeout phases. Strong knowledge of project delivery models including EP, EPCM, PMC, and similar contracting arrangements. Expertise in project governance, project controls, commercial management, contract administration, legal reviews, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. Exceptional leadership, negotiation, strategic planning, and decision-making capabilities. Demonstrated ability to foster a high-performance, collaborative culture across integrated project teams. Strong business acumen with a focus on profitability, client satisfaction, and long-term partnership development. P.Eng. designation preferred PMP certification considered an asset.
