Used Vehicle Buyer / Wholesale Appraiser (Cross-Border)

About us AEC CanAm is the cross-border wholesale division of Auto Export Corporation, a Canadian company with 30+ years in international automotive distribution. We source competitively priced pre-owned vehicles in Canada and sell them wholesale to dealer partners across the US. What you will do Source and buy pre-owned vehicles from Canadian dealers, auctions, lease-return and rental channels, and online remarketing platforms Appraise accurately and negotiate purchase prices that support target margins Build and maintain warm sourcing relationships with dealers across Ontario Spend most of your week on the road visiting lots and attending auctions Track US wholesale pricing and CAD/USD movements to guide buying decisions Work with the Associate Director and Wholesale Sales Rep to match inventory to live US demand Read this first This is a buying role rather than a sales role. Day to day, you will appraise and purchase pre-owned vehicles at wholesale rather than sell to retail customers. If most of your experience is in showroom sales or F&I, this role works a little differently from what you may be used to, and that is worth knowing before you apply. What matters most to us is that you know how to value a car, spot condition issues, and negotiate a purchase that hits a margin target. What we are looking for 2 to 3+ years in wholesale buying, used vehicle acquisition, or dealer trade-desk appraisal (retail showroom sales on its own does not meet this) Strong grasp of used vehicle valuation and wholesale pricing Sharp eye for condition, strong negotiation, self-motivated Valid Ontario driver's licence Nice to have: OMVIC, knowledge of auction platforms (ADESA, Manheim, TradeRev/OPENLANE), valuation tools (Canadian Black Book, AccuTrade, vAuto, MMR), and an existing dealer network What we offer $70,000 to $120,000 expected annual earnings (consisting of base salary $35,000 - $45,000 plus performance commission) The salary is realistic and a good starting point but is by no means what our top buyers earn. Requires 2 to 3+ years of experience in wholesale buying or dealer trade-desk appraisal and a valid Ontario driver's licence. Candidates must possess strong vehicle valuation skills and a sharp eye for condition issues.
