Your Opportunity: Reporting to the Executive Director of Surgery, this dynamic and exciting Patient Care Manager (PCM) role is a key leadership position at Rockyview General Hospital (RGH). The PCM is responsible for the daily operations of Unit 83 (Colorectal/General Surgery), Unit 84 (Gynecology, Plastics, Ophthalmology Surgery), the Surgical Inpatient Float Pool, and serves as the RGH lead for NSWOC (Nurse Specialized in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence). The PCM is responsible for various duties which include but are not limited to: participating in strategic planning, identifying budget requirements (human, material, and capital resources) to safely meet patient outcomes, managing of expenditures and variance analysis, establishing and maintaining standards of practice, hiring and managing performance of professional/support staff, creating and sustaining a healthy work environment, and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders. The PCM must also facilitate the implementation of changes to structure and process to accomplish improved outcomes in patient satisfaction. As an active member of the Surgical Services leadership team, the PCM maintains strong working relationships with the medical leaders in Surgery as well as other internal and external stakeholders and leaders across the site, corridor, and provincial levels to ensure alignment and leadership in key areas of responsibility. Description: The PCM has direct operational and strategic accountability for two of our inpatient surgery units, our surgical float pool and the NSWOC team. Through interaction and collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders, the PCM influences the direction of operations and service delivery, creates and builds commitment to the vision through effective communication strategies, serves as a role model in the development of an organizational culture and participates with corridor team members creating strategies for optimal care and best practice. The PCM works in partnership with multiple medical leaders in surgery as well as stakeholders within the Department of Surgery in planning, implementing, and evaluating program initiatives that align with positive patient experience and outcomes. The PCM provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making, and the evaluation and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives. The PCM has the responsibility of ensuring program delivery measurements and standards are enforced, identifies challenges and opportunities to provide leadership for strategic planning, all while promoting an environment that fosters quality improvement and culture of safety for staff and patients. Additionally, the PCM is responsible for reviewing the budget and applying a business minded approach that balances sound financial decision-making with the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Current College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or health profession registration is required. Minimum 5 years experience in a formal leadership role in acute care is required. Additional Required Qualifications: As Required. Preferred Qualifications: Masters degree in Business, Health Administration, Leadership or related field. Previous experience (within the last five years) in surgical services. Previous experience as a Unit Manager/Assistant Manager. Proficiency with MS office Suite to support visual communication of information (Power Point for presentations, Excel for financial communications, etc.). Analytical, organizational, planning, teaching, decision-making, and financial management skills.
