Your Opportunity: The Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre is seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist II. You will provide rural generalist physiotherapy services to clients in acute care, continuing care and ambulatory outpatients. Services are delivered at the Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre. Description: As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care. Classification: Physiotherapist II Union: HSAA Facility PROF/TECH Unit and Program: Allied Health Physiotherapy Primary Location: Smoky Lake Health Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 24-AUG-2026 Employee Class: Regular Full Time Date Available: 03-SEP-2026 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 2 Shifts per cycle: 10 Shift Pattern: Days Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $44.93 Maximum Salary: $59.68 Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License, Vehicle Required Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider from the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation. Preferred Qualifications: New grads are welcome to apply, but preference for one year of experience in a rural generalist position and/or one year experience as a physiotherapist in acute care or continuing care. Alberta Aids to Daily Living (AADL) authorizer status for mobility aids is an asset.
